High-definition television (HDTV) and digital television (DTV) are the waves of the future, and they have arrived in Detroit.  I have been watching DTV and HDTV broadcasts in Detroit since November 1999, making me one of the early adopters in the area.

Right now, all eight Detroit-area stations are broadcasting in digital.  The Canadian TV stations in the area will also be moving to digital, though at a slower timetable than the U.S. stations.

HDTV provides a vastly clearer image than standard NTSC television, as well as a widescreen image closer to that found in movie theaters.  You can see HDTV for yourself at an electronics store near you (Best Buy, Circuit City, Walter's, etc.).
